Yurlayurlanya facts for kids
The Yurlayurlanya people, sometimes called Ulaolinya, were an Aboriginal Australian group. They lived in the area around Glenormiston in South West Queensland, Australia.
Their Language
The Yurlayurlanya people had their own special language, which was also called the Yurlayurlanya language. Besides speaking, they also used a sign language to communicate with each other.
Traditional Lands
The Yurlayurlanya originally lived in the Boulia area. This was their traditional country. However, as new farms and settlements were built by European settlers, the Yurlayurlanya people were forced to move from their homes.
Later History
By the 1890s, many Yurlayurlanya people who had been moved from their lands gathered in new places. They often came together around Carlo Springs (also known as Mungeribar) and near the upper part of the Mulligan River.
