Yushi Ozaki (尾﨑 勇史, Ozaki Yūshi, born March 24, 1969) is a former Japanese football player. He played as a goalkeeper.
His Football Journey
Yushi Ozaki was born in Mie, Japan, on March 24, 1969. After finishing high school, he joined a football club called Yamaha Motors in 1987. This club later became known as Júbilo Iwata.
For many years, it was hard for him to play in games. Other goalkeepers like Shinichi Morishita and Tomoaki Ogami were often chosen instead. But in late 1999, he finally became the main goalkeeper for Júbilo Iwata. That year, his team won the championship in the 1999 J1 League.
However, in June 2000, the club brought in a new goalkeeper named Arno van Zwam. This meant Ozaki lost his regular spot on the team. In November 2000, he moved to Avispa Fukuoka. There, he competed with Nobuyuki Kojima and Hideki Tsukamoto for the goalkeeper position. He played in 10 matches for Avispa Fukuoka.
In 2002, Ozaki moved to Sanfrecce Hiroshima. Again, it was difficult for him to get playing time because Takashi Shimoda was the main goalkeeper. Yushi Ozaki retired from playing football at the end of the 2003 season. Throughout his career, he played a total of 53 league games.
