Yusuke Shimada (島田 裕介, Shimada Yusuke, born January 19, 1982) is a former Japanese football player. He played as a midfielder during his professional career. Shimada is known for playing for several clubs in Japan's J.League and also for a team in South Korea. He retired from playing football at the end of the 2012 season.

Starting His Career in Japan
Yusuke Shimada was born in Ogose, Saitama, Japan, on January 19, 1982. After finishing high school, he joined Omiya Ardija in 2000. This club was part of the J2 League, which is Japan's second-highest football division.
He made his first professional appearance on November 18, 2001. He came into the game as a substitute midfielder against Ventforet Kofu. However, in his first few years until 2002, he did not play many matches.
Becoming a Regular Player
From 2003, Shimada started to play more often as a substitute midfielder. His team, Omiya Ardija, was promoted to the J1 League in 2005. The J1 League is Japan's top football division.
In 2006, he moved to another J2 club, Thespa Kusatsu, on a loan. Here, he became a regular player, often playing as an offensive midfielder. He showed his skills by scoring 9 goals in 46 games that season.
Shimada returned to Omiya Ardija in 2007. However, he found it hard to get playing time. Other strong midfielders like Chikara Fujimoto and Daigo Kobayashi were ahead of him.
Continued Success in J2 League
In 2008, Yusuke Shimada moved back to Thespa Kusatsu. This time, he played in every single one of their 42 matches, showing how important he was to the team.
The next year, in 2009, he joined another J2 club, Sagan Tosu. He continued his impressive run, playing in 50 out of 51 matches that season. He only missed one game due to a suspension.
From 2010 to 2011, Shimada played for Tokushima Vortis, another J2 League team. He played many matches for them over two seasons.
Playing in South Korea and Retirement
In 2012, Yusuke Shimada decided to try playing football in a different country. He moved to South Korea and joined Gangwon FC. He played 23 matches for them, scoring one goal.
At the end of the 2012 season, Yusuke Shimada decided to retire from professional football. Throughout his career, he played a total of 280 matches and scored 35 goals across all competitions.
