Yuto Sato (佐藤 勇人, Satō Yūto, born March 12, 1982) is a retired Japanese football player. He played as a midfielder for many clubs and also for the Japan national team. His brother, Hisato Sato, is also a famous football player.

Playing for Clubs
Yuto Sato was born in Kasukabe, Japan, on March 12, 1982. He started his professional football journey with JEF United Ichihara in 2000. This club is part of the J1 League, which is Japan's top football league.
Early Career at JEF United
Yuto Sato began playing for JEF United Ichihara in 2000. By 2002, he was playing many games as a defensive midfielder. A defensive midfielder helps protect the team's goal and also helps start attacks. In 2003, he became a regular player, meaning he played almost every game. Under a new coach, Ivica Osim, JEF United finished in third place. The team then won the J.League Cup twice, in 2005 and 2006. Winning this cup was a big achievement for the team.
Moving to Kyoto Sanga FC
In 2008, Yuto Sato moved to another club called Kyoto Sanga FC. He continued to be a regular player there for two seasons.
Returning to JEF United Chiba
Yuto Sato returned to JEF United Chiba in 2010. At this time, JEF United had moved down to the J2 League, which is the second division of Japanese football. He continued to be a key player for the team. JEF United tried to get promoted back to the J1 League for three years in a row, from 2012 to 2014. They played in special "Promotion Playoffs" to try and move up, but they just missed out each time.
Retirement and New Role
In October 2019, Yuto Sato announced that the 2019 season would be his last as a player. In January 2020, he took on a new role as a "Club Officer" for JEF United Chiba. In this role, he helps represent the club at different events.
Playing for Japan
In August 2006, Yuto Sato was chosen to play for the Japan national team. This happened when Ivica Osim, his former coach at JEF United, became the manager for the national team. On August 16, Yuto Sato played his first game for Japan against Yemen.
