Zack, Texas facts for kids
Zack was once a small community or "place" in Brazos County, Texas, in the United States. Today, it is no longer a populated area. It is like a ghost town, a place where people used to live but have since moved away.
The Story of Zack
Zack was a very small community that existed for a while in Texas. It was located about twelve miles northeast of a city called Bryan.
How Zack Started
The story of Zack began in 1904. A man named Zachariah R. Guess opened a post office inside his general store. This store was the center of the new community. In 1906, another person named Cyrus Koontz bought the store from Mr. Guess. Mr. Koontz ran the store until 1932.
A Small Community
Zack was never a large place. It always stayed very small. From 1925 to 1950, only about 25 people lived there. It was a quiet place with just a few families.
Where Did Zack Go?
Over time, people moved away from Zack. By 1988, the community was no longer shown on highway maps. This means it had become an unpopulated area. Today, Zack is just a historical location, a reminder of a small Texas community that once was.
