Zacualtipán is a town and a municipality in Hidalgo, Mexico. Its full name is Zacualtipán de Ángeles. This longer name honors Felipe Ángeles, an important person born there in 1868.
The municipality covers an area of about 241.6 square kilometers. In 2020, about 38,155 people lived in the municipality. This was more than the 25,987 people who lived there in 2005.

History of Zacualtipán
A Battle in 1848
The town of Zacualtipán was once the site of an important event. This happened on February 25, 1848. It was called the action of Sequalteplan.
During the Mexican–American War, American forces were in the area. A group of American soldiers, led by General Joseph Lane, made a surprise attack. They fought against a Mexican guerrilla force. This Mexican group was led by Celedonio Dómeco de Jarauta. General Lane's forces won the battle.
