Zdeněk Svěrák (born March 28, 1936) is a very famous and loved Czech actor, humorist, writer, and scriptwriter. He is one of the most well-known people in Czech culture. Since 1968, he has acted in 32 movies.

Zdeněk Svěrák's Amazing Career
In 1958, Zdeněk Svěrák finished his studies at Charles University in Prague. He studied the Czech language and literature. He has written more than 300 songs and plays. He has also appeared in 32 feature films.
Writing for the Big Screen
Zdeněk Svěrák has written many movie scripts. Some of his most famous films include Kolya and The Elementary School. Both of these movies were directed by his son, Jan Svěrák. Kolya even won an Academy Award! He also wrote the script for My Sweet Little Village.
The Clever Jára Cimrman
In 1966, Zdeněk Svěrák and his good friend Ladislav Smoljak, along with Jiří Šebánek, created a funny character named Jára Cimrman. Jára Cimrman was a made-up genius who knew a lot about everything. They created him for a radio show called Vinárna U pavouka. In 2005, people voted Jára Cimrman as "The Greatest Czech." But he couldn't officially win because he wasn't a real person!
Helping Others with Paraple
Zdeněk Svěrák also started a charity organization called Paraple. This group helps people who are paralyzed. It shows that he cares about making a difference in the world.
