A Look Back: Zeandale's Story
Zeandale was founded in 1855 by a person named J.H. Pillsbury. The name "Zeandale" is quite interesting! It comes from two words: "zea," which is a Greek word for "corn," and "dale," an English word meaning a valley. So, it's like "Corn Valley."
Zeandale had its own post office for many years, from 1857 until 1944. This was important for sending and receiving mail in the community.
The community is also home to the Zeandale Community Church. It was built in 1896. The church started as part of a specific Christian movement. Later, in the 1950s, it became a non-denominational church. This means it welcomes people from different Christian backgrounds.
