Zema Abbey (born April 17, 1977) is a former English football player. He used to play as a striker.

Zema studied Sports Science at the University of Bedfordshire. His younger brother, Nathan, was also a professional footballer. Zema also owns a company in Luton that sells shoes.

Playing Career

Zema Abbey was born in Luton, England. His parents came from St. Vincent. He started his football journey with Arlesey Town. After that, he played for Baldock Town and Hitchin Town.

In February 2000, Zema joined Cambridge United. He quickly became an important player for the team. In December 2000, he moved to Norwich City for a fee of £350,000.

His time at Carrow Road, Norwich City's home stadium, was tough. He had two serious knee injuries. These injuries caused him to miss most of the 2003–04 season. Even so, he received a championship medal when Norwich City won the league.

In September 2004, Zema went on loan to Boston United. There, he played alongside famous footballer Paul Gascoigne. He scored one goal against Chester City. The next month, he moved to Wycombe Wanderers for free.

In November 2004, Zema joined Bradford City. He scored a goal just two minutes into his first game against Brentford. However, he also received the first red card of his career in that match. Because of the suspension, he didn't play for almost a month. He played only six games before leaving the club.

In January 2005, Zema had a trial with Stoke City. He played for their reserve team and even scored a goal. But he was not offered a contract. In March 2005, he joined Torquay United. He scored one goal against MK Dons before leaving at the end of the 2004–05 season.

In August 2005, Zema joined Forest Green Rovers. He played 26 games for them before being released in April 2006. He then joined Kettering Town in August 2006 for the 2006–07 Conference North season. He left the club in November 2006.

In January 2007, he signed with Barton Rovers. Later, in November 2007, he joined Halesowen Town. He stayed there until the 2009–10 season. Then, he returned to Arlesey Town as a player and assistant manager.

Management Career

In June 2011, Zema Abbey became the first team manager at Arlesey Town.

In November 2013, Zema and his brother Nathan Abbey moved to St Neots. They became joint managers with Gary King. This means they shared the manager role.

Zema was re-appointed manager of Arlesey Town in February 2015. He again shared the role as joint manager with his brother Nathan. The brothers left the club at the end of the 2017–18 season.
