Zig, Missouri facts for kids
Zig was once a small town in Adair County, which is in the U.S. state of Missouri. Today, it is known as a "ghost town" because no one lives there anymore.
The Story of Zig
The town of Zig got its name from a person named Harrison Zeigler. It was a very small community where people lived and worked.
A post office was opened in Zig in 1870. This was an important place for people to send and receive letters and packages. The post office stayed open for many years, but it eventually closed in 1908. After the post office closed, the town slowly faded away.
The GNIS, which is a system that keeps track of place names in the United States, lists Zig as a "populated place." This means it was once a place where people lived, even though it is empty now.
