A Look at the Church's History
Early Days and First Owners
The Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church was built in 1892. It was made for the Zion Evangelical Church group. This group used the church for many years. They met there until 1949. After that, they moved to a new church building. Their new church was on US Highway 131.
New Owners and New Names
In 1951, another church group bought the building. This was the Petoskey Mennonite Church. Later, this group changed its name. They became known as the Hilltop Mennonite Fellowship. The Mennonite group used the church building for a long time. They met there until 2015. At that time, their group closed.
The Chapel of Our Guardian Angels
After 2015, Colleen and Michael Pattullo bought the building. They turned it into a non-profit place. It is now called the Chapel of Our Guardian Angels. From 2016 to 2020, another group used to rent space there. This was the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Petoskey.

Architectural Style and Features
The Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church is a one-story building. It is made of wood. Its style is called Late Victorian. It also has some features from Gothic Revival design.
Roof, Tower, and Windows
The church has a front gable roof. This means the roof slopes down on two sides. It also has a tall, rectangular tower. The top of the tower is pointed and has many sides. The church has rectangular windows on its sides. Each window has eight panes of glass. The tops of the windows have decorative edges. There is also an extra entrance at the back of one side. It has a gabled roof too.
