About Zitto Kabwe

His Early Life and Family

Zitto Kabwe was born in Mwandiga, a place in Kigoma, Tanzania. His mother, Shida Salum Mohammed, had ten children, including six girls and four boys.

Sadly, Zitto's mother passed away on June 1, 2014. She had been the chairperson for an organization that helped people with physical disabilities.

Zitto Kabwe is married to Ms. Anna Bwana. They have three children: a son named Wiza-Chachage and two daughters, Josina-UmmKulthum and Alaa-Angelika. His son is named after a smart professor, Chachage S. Chachage, who was a close friend of Zitto. His daughters are named after a brave hero from Mozambique, Josina Machel, and Zitto's auntie, Mama Mhonga, who cared for him like a mother. Alaa is named after Alaa Salah, a symbol of freedom from the Sudanese Revolution, and Zitto's mother-in-law, Mrs. Angelika Bwana.

His Education Journey

Zitto Kabwe started primary school in 1984 at Kigoma Primary School. He finished there in 1990.

He then went to Kigoma Secondary School from 1991 to 1994. In 1994, he moved to Kibohehe Secondary School and finished his exams there in 1995.

He continued his studies at Galanos Secondary School in 1996. In 1997, he joined Tosamaganga Secondary School and completed his advanced exams in 1998.

In 1999, Zitto Kabwe began studying at the University of Dar es Salaam. He earned a degree in Economics in 2003.

After working for six years, Zitto went to Bucerius Law School in Hamburg, Germany. He graduated in 2010 with a master's degree in law and business.

In 2011, Zitto Kabwe started working on a very advanced degree (a Ph.D.) at the Otto Beisheim School of Management in Germany.

His Work as a Leader

As the leader of the Public Accounts Committee, Mr. Kabwe worked hard to fight corruption. He wanted strong rules to stop public officials from using their power for personal gain.

He also helped connect different political parties, members of parliament, and groups of citizens. This way, they could work together on important issues for their country.

The Mining Law of 2010

Zitto Kabwe is well-known for his role in creating the Mining Law of 2010. He worked with different political groups and citizen organizations while the law was being written.

This law was created because people were worried that Tanzania was not getting enough money from mining companies. The law made sure that Tanzanian citizens had more control over mining rights.

It also required mining companies to share their ownership on the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange. The law also limited how much people from other countries could be involved in small-scale mining and selling minerals.
