Zodiac Entertainment was a company in the United States that made and shared animated cartoons. It was known for creating fun and imaginative TV shows for kids.
How Zodiac Entertainment Started
Zodiac Entertainment began in 1989. It was created by a British company called Central Independent Television. This British company wanted to start making TV shows in the United States.
To help set up and run Zodiac, they brought in two people who knew a lot about making cartoons: Brian Lacey and Peter Keefe. These experienced creators helped guide the new company.
Zodiac's goal was to make original cartoon series that could be easily understood and enjoyed by children all over the world. This meant their shows tried not to include too many things that only people in the U.S. would understand.
Popular Shows They Made
Zodiac Entertainment had some successful cartoons. Their first two shows became quite popular:
- Widget: This show was about environmentalism, teaching kids about protecting our planet.
- Mr. Bogus: This was a funny cartoon that many kids enjoyed.
Even though their shows were popular, Zodiac found it hard to compete with bigger companies. It was tough to get good time slots on TV and enough money from advertising.
Why Zodiac Entertainment Changed
Zodiac's third and last original cartoon series was Twinkle, the Dream Being. This show was a special project made with a company from Korea. It was first created to help promote the 1993 Taejŏn Expo, a big event held in Korea.
In 1994, Zodiac Entertainment's parent company was bought by another company. After this happened, Zodiac stopped making new cartoons. Instead, they focused only on sharing and distributing TV shows that had already been made.
