Mr. Bogus is an animated TV show from America. It was created by Peter Keefe and directed by Tom Burton. The show first aired from September 28, 1991, to November 22, 1993. Later, in 1998, it also appeared on the Fox Family Channel.

The series was inspired by a French and Belgian clay animation show simply called Bogus. Each episode of Mr. Bogus had two different parts. One part used traditional cel animation, like many cartoons. The other part used clay animation, just like the original French series. In the claymation parts, characters often explored a kitchen counter. They had funny adventures with common household items.

Mr. Bogus was shown in many countries around the world. These included the UK, Brazil, Greece, Israel, Australia, and New Zealand. It was also popular in the Philippines, Singapore, and various countries in the Middle East and Europe.

What is Mr. Bogus About?

The show combines two animation styles. It features a main story using traditional animation. It also includes short, funny clips made with clay animation.

The Cel-Animated Adventures

In the cel-animated parts, Mr. Bogus is a small, yellow, gremlin-like creature. He lives inside the walls of a suburban home, owned by a boy named Tommy Anybody. Bogus often causes funny problems or accidentally solves them.

Sometimes, Bogus travels to his own world, called Bogusland. This place is a strange, warped dimension with unusual shapes. In Bogusland, he often meets scary dust bunnies known as Dirt Dudes.

The Clay Animated Shorts

The clay animated parts are short clips. They are based on an older French and Belgian series from 1987, also called Bogus. Only 42 of the original 300 shorts were used in the American Mr. Bogus show. These shorts were often shown before commercial breaks.

In the original 1987 version, a man would leave his house for work. While he was gone, Bogus would come out of his hiding spot. He would then have short, funny adventures with objects around the house. Bogus would clumsily discover the world in different rooms, like the bathroom or attic.

For the 1991 American version, the voices and background music were changed. Cam Clarke provided the voice for Mr. Bogus. The music was an instrumental version of the cel-animated show's opening theme.
