Zork II facts for kids
Zork II: The Wizard of Frobozz is a classic video game from 1981. It was made by a company called Infocom. This game is a type of "interactive fiction". This means you play by typing commands, like telling your character what to do. Many talented people helped create it, including Marc Blank and Dave Lebling. It's the second game in the famous Zork series. It continues the story right after Zork I and sets up the adventure for Zork III. It was one of the first games Infocom ever released.
The Story Begins
In Zork II, you start your adventure in a place called the Barrow. This is the same area where Zork I ended. You only have a trusty brass lantern and an elvish sword to help you. At first, you might not know exactly what your mission is.
Meeting the Wizard
Soon, you will meet the main character of this game: the Wizard of Frobozz. The wizard was once a powerful and good sorcerer. However, his magical powers started to fade away. Because of this, a ruler named Lord Dimwit Flathead sent him away.
Now, the wizard is not quite himself and can be very tricky. As you explore his magical areas, your main goal is to avoid his clever traps. You also need to learn how to use his magic against him.
A Hunt for Treasures
Just like the first Zork game, Zork II is mostly about finding hidden treasures. There are ten special treasures to discover in this game. Unlike Zork I, these treasures are connected to a bigger story.
Finding all the treasures does not automatically end the game. Instead, you must figure out how to use these treasures in a special way. This will help you reach the final part of your adventure and complete the game.
