Çankaya University (Turkish: Çankaya Üniversitesi) is a private university in Ankara, Turkey. A private university is a school that gets its money from tuition fees and private donations, not mainly from the government. It was started on July 9, 1997, by the Sıtkı Alp Education Foundation. The university began teaching students in the fall of 1997. Sıtkı Alp is the main person in charge of the university's board. Most classes, learning, and research at Çankaya University are done in English.
In 2020, the Times Higher Education World University Rankings placed Çankaya University among the top 401–500 universities worldwide. It was also ranked 87th among universities in growing economies. This was the first time the university was the highest-ranked in Turkey. This included both government-funded and private universities.

What Can You Study at Çankaya University?
Çankaya University has 5 main sections called faculties. These faculties offer 21 different study programs. There are also two institutes for advanced studies, with 17 master's degree programs and 6 Ph.D. programs. A master's degree is for students who want to study more after their first university degree. A Ph.D. is an even higher degree for deep research.
The university also has 2 vocational schools with 3 programs. These schools teach practical skills for specific jobs. There is also an English preparatory school. This school helps students improve their English before starting their main studies.
One school year has two semesters. Each semester lasts at least 14 weeks. All lessons are planned to fit into one semester.
History of Çankaya University
Çankaya University is a private university located in Çankaya, a district in Ankara, Turkey. Sıtkı Alp started the university. He turned his secondary school, Arı Koleji, into a place for higher education. The former president of Turkey, Süleyman Demirel, officially opened the university in 1997.
In 2011, a new campus called Turkuaz campus opened. Many departments and faculties moved to this new, bigger campus. The Turkuaz campus is very large, about 440,000 square meters. The Arkitera Architecture Center even gave an award to the new campus for its design.

The Çankaya University Sports Club started in 1986. It was first known as Arı Spor. Later, its name changed to Çankaya University Sports Club. The sports club is still active today at the university's Balgat Campus.
