Żywiec Zdrój S.A. is a company in Poland that makes bottled water and other drinks. It is owned by a big company called Danone. The company is located in a town called Cięcina, Poland. Their main product is fresh water bottled from the Abrahamów mountain ridge. This mountain ridge is part of the beautiful Żywiec Landscape Park. The company started in 1992.

How Żywiec Zdrój Started

The company was created by two brothers, Mieczysław Bizoń and Stanisław Bizoń. They started it in late 1992. After getting all the needed permits and setting up their machines, the very first bottle of still spring water was produced on April 23, 1993. In the same year, Żywiec Zdrój also began making sparkling water.

Growing the Company

The years from 1994 to 2001 were a time of big changes and fast growth for the company. In July 1998, they opened a second factory in a place called Strzeczno. Two years later, they started making sparkling water at a factory in Mirosławiec. In 2001, the company became a joint-stock company. This means it was now owned by many shareholders. It also joined the Danone group of companies. In 2005, another factory was opened in Jeleśnia. That same year, Żywiec Zdrój also launched its first flavored drink called Smako-Łyk. Then, in 2010, Żywiec Zdrój opened its fourth factory in Rzeniszów.

The Changing Logo

When Żywiec Zdrój first started, their bottle label showed a picture of Emperor Franz Joseph. He was well-known in the Żywiec region. This was to show that the water came from that area. Over the years, his image on the logo became smaller. Eventually, it was replaced by a picture of The Hill of Abraham. Now, the emperor's image is no longer on the logo at all.
