Ángel Luis Delgado Astacio, born on November 20, 1994, is a professional basketball player from the Dominican Republic. He currently plays for Trabzonspor in Turkey's top basketball league, the Basketbol Süper Ligi (BSL). Before becoming a pro, he played college basketball for the Seton Hall Pirates. Ángel also represents his home country on the Dominican national basketball team.

College Basketball Journey

Ángel Delgado decided to play college basketball for the Seton Hall Pirates on August 16, 2013. Many other colleges, like Florida State and Virginia, also wanted him to play for them.

Rookie Year Success

In his first year at Seton Hall (2014–15), Ángel was named the Rookie of the Year for the Big East Conference. He averaged about 9.3 points and 9.9 rebounds per game. His rebounding average was the highest in the conference.

Leading the NCAA in Rebounds

During his third year at Seton Hall, Ángel became the top rebounder in the entire NCAA. He grabbed an amazing 13.1 rebounds per game, along with 15.2 points per game. He almost achieved a triple double (getting double-digit numbers in three different stats) in a Big East Tournament game. He was chosen for the First Team All-Big East. Ángel helped Seton Hall finish with a strong record of 21 wins and 12 losses.

Breaking Records and Awards

Ángel broke a long-standing record for most rebounds in the Big East Conference. He achieved this with 19 rebounds in a game against DePaul on January 27, 2018. In his very last college game, he scored 24 points and grabbed 23 rebounds. This was during a close game against Kansas in the NCAA Tournament. As a senior, he averaged 13.6 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game. He also won the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award for being the best center in college basketball. He finished his college career with an incredible 1,432 rebounds.

Starting with the Los Angeles Clippers

Even though he was not chosen in the 2018 NBA draft, Ángel signed a special "two-way contract" with the Los Angeles Clippers on July 6, 2018. This meant he could play for both the Clippers and their minor league team, the Agua Caliente Clippers. On January 5, 2019, Ángel set a new record in the NBA G League (the minor league). He grabbed an amazing 31 rebounds in one game! He made his first NBA appearance on February 7, 2019.
