Ángel Luis Delgado Astacio (born November 20, 1994) is a professional basketball player from the Dominican Republic. He plays as a center for Galatasaray Ekmas in Turkey's top league, the Basketbol Süper Ligi (BSL). Before turning pro, he played college basketball for the Seton Hall Pirates. Ángel has also proudly represented his home country on the Dominican national team.

College Basketball Journey
Ángel Delgado decided to play college basketball for the Seton Hall University Pirates on August 16, 2013. Many other universities, like Florida State and Virginia, also wanted him.
Starting Strong: Rookie Year
In his first year, the 2014–15 season, Delgado was named Rookie of the Year for the Big East Conference. He averaged 9.3 points and led the conference with 9.9 rebounds per game. This showed everyone he was a rising star!
Leading the League in Rebounds
During his third year at Seton Hall, Delgado became the top rebounder in the entire NCAA. He grabbed an amazing 13.1 rebounds per game, along with scoring 15.2 points per game. He almost got a triple double (scoring in double digits in three different stats) in a Big East Tournament game. He was chosen for the First Team All-Big East. After this great season, he thought about joining the NBA draft but decided to return to Seton Hall for his final year.
Breaking Records and Awards
On January 27, 2018, Delgado broke a Big East record for most rebounds. He grabbed 19 rebounds in a game against DePaul! In his very last college game, he scored 24 points and had 23 rebounds. As a senior, he averaged 13.6 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game. He won the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award for being the best center in college basketball. Throughout his college career at Seton Hall, he collected an incredible 1,432 rebounds.
Professional Basketball Career
After college, Ángel Delgado began his professional career. Even though he wasn't chosen in the 2018 NBA draft, he quickly found a team.
Playing for the Los Angeles Clippers
On July 6, 2018, Delgado signed a special contract with the Los Angeles Clippers. This contract meant he would play for both the Clippers and their minor league team, the Agua Caliente Clippers, in the NBA G League.
Setting a Rebounding Record
On January 5, 2019, Delgado set a new NBA G League record! He grabbed an amazing 31 rebounds in one game for the Agua Caliente Clippers. This broke the old record and showed his incredible skill at rebounding. He made his NBA debut on February 7, 2019, playing for the Los Angeles Clippers.
Playing Overseas: Israel and Spain
After his time with the Clippers, Delgado moved to play basketball in other countries.
- In December 2019, he joined Hapoel Holon in Israel.
- In March 2020, he briefly played for the Sioux Falls Skyforce back in the G League.
- From 2020 to 2021, he played for Movistar Estudiantes in Spain.
- From 2021 to 2022, he played for Bilbao Basket, also in Spain.
Playing in Turkey
Ángel Delgado then moved to Turkey to play in the Basketbol Süper Ligi (BSL).
- From 2022 to 2023, he played for Pınar Karşıyaka.
- From 2023 to 2024, he played for Beşiktaş.
- Since July 2, 2024, he has been playing for Galatasaray Ekmas.
Player of the Week Award
On October 23, 2024, Delgado was named "Hoops Agents Player of the Week" for his great performance. He scored 14 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in a game, helping his team win!
Playing for His Country
Ángel Delgado has also played for the Dominican Republic national team.
- In 2016, he helped his team win a bronze medal at the 2016 Centrobasket tournament. He was one of the top rebounders and scorers in that competition.
- He also played in the 2017 FIBA AmeriCup, where he continued to show his strong rebounding skills.
