Ángel Luis Delgado Astacio, born on November 20, 1994, is a professional basketball player from the Dominican Republic. He currently plays for Trabzonspor in Turkey's top basketball league, the Basketbol Süper Ligi (BSL). Before becoming a pro, he played college basketball for the Seton Hall Pirates. Ángel also represents his home country on the Dominican national basketball team.

College Basketball Journey
Ángel Delgado decided to play college basketball for the Seton Hall Pirates on August 16, 2013. Many other colleges, like Florida State and Virginia, also wanted him to play for them.
Rookie Year Success
In his first year at Seton Hall (2014–15), Ángel was named the Rookie of the Year for the Big East Conference. He averaged about 9.3 points and 9.9 rebounds per game. His rebounding average was the highest in the conference.
Leading the NCAA in Rebounds
During his third year at Seton Hall, Ángel became the top rebounder in the entire NCAA. He grabbed an amazing 13.1 rebounds per game, along with 15.2 points per game. He almost achieved a triple double (getting double-digit numbers in three different stats) in a Big East Tournament game. He was chosen for the First Team All-Big East. Ángel helped Seton Hall finish with a strong record of 21 wins and 12 losses.
Breaking Records and Awards
Ángel broke a long-standing record for most rebounds in the Big East Conference. He achieved this with 19 rebounds in a game against DePaul on January 27, 2018. In his very last college game, he scored 24 points and grabbed 23 rebounds. This was during a close game against Kansas in the NCAA Tournament. As a senior, he averaged 13.6 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game. He also won the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award for being the best center in college basketball. He finished his college career with an incredible 1,432 rebounds.
Professional Basketball Career
After college, Ángel Delgado began his professional basketball career.
Starting with the Los Angeles Clippers
Even though he was not chosen in the 2018 NBA draft, Ángel signed a special "two-way contract" with the Los Angeles Clippers on July 6, 2018. This meant he could play for both the Clippers and their minor league team, the Agua Caliente Clippers. On January 5, 2019, Ángel set a new record in the NBA G League (the minor league). He grabbed an amazing 31 rebounds in one game! He made his first NBA appearance on February 7, 2019.
Playing in Israel and Spain
After his time with the Clippers, Ángel played for Hapoel Holon in Israel from 2019 to 2020. He then briefly played for the Sioux Falls Skyforce in the NBA G League in 2020. Later that year, he moved to Spain to play for Movistar Estudiantes. In 2021, he joined Bilbao Basket, another team in Spain's top league.
Playing in Turkey
Since 2022, Ángel has played for several teams in Turkey's Basketbol Süper Ligi.
- From 2022 to 2023, he played for Pınar Karşıyaka.
- From 2023 to 2024, he was with Beşiktaş.
- For the 2024–2025 season, he played for Galatasaray Ekmas. He even won the "Hoops Agents Player of the Week" award in October 2024 for a great game.
- On July 8, 2025, Ángel signed with Trabzonspor, where he plays now.

Ángel Delgado has proudly represented the Dominican Republic in international competitions.
Centrobasket and AmeriCup
In 2016, he helped his team win a bronze medal at the 2016 Centrobasket tournament. He was one of the top rebounders and scorers in that competition. He also played in the 2017 FIBA AmeriCup, where he continued to show his strong rebounding skills.
