Ángel Fournier Rodríguez (born December 31, 1987 – died March 16, 2023) was a famous rower from Cuba. Rowing is a sport where athletes race boats using oars. Ángel was known for his strength and skill on the water.

He competed in several big events, including the Olympic Games and World Championships. He won many medals throughout his career, making his country proud.

Ángel's Olympic Journey

Ángel Fournier took part in three Olympic Games. These are the biggest sports events in the world.

First Olympics: Beijing 2008

At the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China, Ángel competed in the quadruple sculls. This is a boat with four rowers, each using two oars. His team finished in 12th place.

London 2012 and a Silver Medal

Four years later, at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, England, Ángel competed in the single sculls. This means he was rowing by himself in a boat. He finished in 7th place. Later that year, he won a silver medal at the 2013 World Rowing Championships. This was a huge achievement for him.

Rio 2016 Performance

Ángel also competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Again, he raced in the single sculls and finished in 6th place. He continued to be one of the top rowers in the world.
