Ásgeir Trausti Einarsson is a singer, songwriter, and musician from Iceland. He was born on July 1, 1992.

When he first started releasing music in Iceland, he used the name Ásgeir Trausti. Later, in 2013, he began using just Ásgeir as his stage name for his international music. He performs with his own group, the Ásgeir Trausti Band. He also plays guitar in another Icelandic band called The Lovely Lion.

Ásgeir's Music Journey

Ásgeir released his first album, Dýrð í dauðaþögn, in 2012. This album was very popular in Iceland. Songs like "Sumargestur" and "Leyndarmál" quickly became hits. "Leyndarmál" even stayed at number one on the Icelandic Singles Chart for six weeks!

He also had a big Christmas hit called "Hvítir skór" with another artist named Blaz Roca. This song was number one in Iceland for nine weeks in a row.

Reaching a Wider Audience

Because his Icelandic album was so successful, Ásgeir decided to release an English version. This album was called In the Silence. It came out internationally in early 2014.

An American singer named John Grant helped Ásgeir translate the songs into English. This helped Ásgeir share his music with people all over the world. Songs like "King and Cross" and "Going Home" became popular from this English album.

New Music and Albums

In 2019, Ásgeir released a song called "Youth." This was from his third album, Bury the Moon, which came out in February 2020. On the same day, he also released an Icelandic version of the album called Sátt.

In 2021, he released a shorter collection of songs called an EP, titled The Sky Is Painted Gray Today. Then, in 2022, he announced his fourth studio album, Time on My Hands. This album was released on October 28, 2022.

Performing Live

During his North American tour in 2014, Ásgeir performed songs in both English and Icelandic. This allowed his fans to hear his music in both languages.
