Ásgeir Trausti Einarsson is a talented singer, songwriter, and musician from Iceland. He was born on July 1, 1992. When he first started releasing music in Iceland, people knew him as Ásgeir Trausti. But since 2013, he has used just his first name, Ásgeir, for his music. He performs with his own band, the Ásgeir Trausti Band. He also plays guitar for another Icelandic band called The Lovely Lion.

Ásgeir's Music Journey

Ásgeir's first album, Dýrð í dauðaþögn, came out in 2012. It was a big hit in Iceland! His first song from the album, "Sumargestur", reached number two on the Icelandic music charts.

Then, his song "Leyndarmál" was number one for six weeks. The album's title track, "Dýrð í dauðaþögn", also hit number one for three weeks.

He even had a Christmas hit song called "Hvítir skór" with another artist, Blaz Roca. This song was number one on the Icelandic charts for nine weeks in a row!

Sharing Music with the World

Ásgeir wanted to share his music with more people. So, he made an English version of his first album, Dýrð í dauðaþögn. The English version was called In the Silence. It was released internationally in 2014, but fans could find it online earlier in 2013.

An American singer named John Grant helped Ásgeir translate the songs into English. This helped Ásgeir's music become popular in other countries like Belgium and the Netherlands.

In 2013, Ásgeir released a music video for "King and Cross". This was the first song from his English album. Another song, "Going Home", also became popular in France.

New Albums and EPs

In 2019, Ásgeir released a song called "Youth". This was from his third album, Bury the Moon, which came out in 2020. What's cool is that he released two albums at once! He also put out an Icelandic version of Bury the Moon called Sátt on the same day.

In 2021, he released a shorter collection of songs called an EP, titled The Sky Is Painted Gray Today. In 2022, he announced his fourth full album, Time on My Hands, which was released in October. The first song from that album was "Snowblind".

Touring Around the World

In 2014, Ásgeir went on a tour in North America. During his shows, he sang songs in both English and Icelandic. This allowed fans to enjoy his music in both languages.
