Ólafur Darri Ólafsson (born on March 3, 1973) is an actor, screenwriter, and producer from both Iceland and the United States. He is well-known for his roles in movies like Children, The Deep, and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.

Early Life and School
Ólafur Darri Ólafsson was born in Connecticut, USA, on March 3, 1973. His parents were from Iceland. His mother was a nurse, and his father was studying medicine. Because he was born in the US, Ólafur has citizenship in both Iceland and America.
When he was about four years old, he moved back to Iceland with his family. He grew up in Reykjavík and went to Reykjavík Junior College. Ólafur has shared that he found it hard to adjust to living in Iceland at first. He even cried when he was told to play outside.
He also found it difficult to become independent as a child. His mother took a job as a nurse at his school to help him feel comfortable attending. Ólafur finished his studies at the Icelandic Drama School in 1998.
Acting Career
After finishing drama school, Ólafur worked in many plays. He performed with the National Theatre of Iceland and the Reykjavík City Theatre. He also joined different independent theatre groups. He even helped start a theatre company called Vesturport in Reykjavík.
Ólafur is very famous around the world for his role as Andri. Andri is the chief of police in Seyðisfjörður in the TV series Trapped. The show's creator, Baltasar Kormákur, chose Ólafur because he was not like a typical main actor. Ólafur said he based the character of Andri on his own father. Critics have praised his acting in the series.
In 2016, Ólafur appeared in a music video for the song "Winter Sound" by the band Of Monsters and Men. In 2019, he was cast as Bing Partridge in the AMC series NOS4A2.

Ólafur is in a relationship with Lovísa Ósk Gunnarsdóttir, who is an Icelandic dancer. They have two daughters together, born in 2010 and 2014.
