Živko Radišić (Serbian Cyrillic: Живко Радишић) was an important politician from Bosnia and Herzegovina. He was born on August 15, 1937, and passed away on September 5, 2021. He was known for being the Serb member of the country's top leadership group, called the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Early Life and Career
Živko Radišić was born in Prijedor, which was part of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia at the time. He studied at the University of Sarajevo.
From 1977 to 1982, he served as the Mayor of Banja Luka, a major city in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Later, between 1982 and 1985, he led the defense ministry for the Socialist Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Political Leadership
In 1996, Živko Radišić helped start the Socialist Party of Republika Srpska. This political party was important in the region.
In September 1998, he was chosen by the people to be the Serb member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina. This is a very important role, as the Presidency leads the country. He served two terms as the Chairman of the Presidency, first from 1998 to 1999, and again from 2000 to 2001.
Later Life and Passing
Živko Radišić passed away on September 5, 2021, in a hospital in Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina. He was 84 years old.
