The building at 1301 Avenue of the Americas is a very tall skyscraper in Manhattan, New York City. It is also known as the Crédit Agricole CIB Building. This building stands 609 feet (186 meters) high. You can find it on the west side of Sixth Avenue (also called Avenue of the Americas). It is located between 52nd and 53rd Streets.

Building History
This large building was finished in 1964. It was built by a company called Uris Buildings Corporation. The building has 45 floors. Uris bought the land for the building from the Astor family. The Astor family used to own a lot of land in New York City.
Early Tenants and Ownership
The first main company to move into the building was JCPenney. They are a well-known department store. JCPenney used more than 800,000 square feet of space. This covered 33 floors of the building. By 1974, they used even more space.
In 1977, JCPenney bought the entire building. They made it their main office. Over 5,000 JCPenney employees worked there. But in 1988, JCPenney decided to move its main office to Dallas. This left the big building empty and ready to be sold.
New Owners and Renovations
In May 1988, two companies, Tishman Speyer and Trammell Crow Company, bought the empty tower. They paid a lot of money for it. They then started a big project to make the building new again.
They worked with other companies and got a large loan from a Japanese bank. The new owners hired Skidmore, Owings & Merrill to design the changes. The renovation included updating the outside of the building. They also made the main entrance area, called the lobby, much bigger and nicer. They added a new outdoor space with seating and plants.
Changes in Name
The building has had a few different names over the years. It was once known as the Crédit Lyonnais Building. Later, it was named for the Calyon Corporation. This company was formed when two banks, Crédit Agricole Indosuez and Crédit Lyonnais, joined together.
In 2010, Calyon changed its name to Credit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank. Today, this bank uses the building as its main office in the United States. The building was also once the main office for PricewaterhouseCoopers, a big accounting firm.
In 2016, the current owner, Paramount Group, received a large amount of money. This money helped them to keep the building updated and running well.

Many different companies have offices in 1301 Avenue of the Americas. Some of the current companies include:

- Barclays, a large bank
In the past, a company called RJR Nabisco had its main office here. After RJR Nabisco split up, Nabisco Group Holdings Corp. also had its headquarters in the building.
