1500 Louisiana Street, once called Enron Center South, is a very tall building in Houston, Texas. It stands 600 feet (about 183 meters) high. This skyscraper was finished in 2002 and has 40 floors. It covers a huge area of 1,284,013 square feet. It is the 17th tallest building in Houston. It was also the tallest building finished in the 2000s. A famous architect named César Pelli designed it.

A Look Back: The Building's Story

This building was originally built for a company called Enron. Enron was based in Houston. They planned for this skyscraper to be their main office in the United States.

However, in late 2001, Enron faced a big problem. The company collapsed and had to declare bankruptcy that same year. Because of this, Enron never actually moved into the building.

After Enron's collapse, the building was empty. A company called Intell Management and Investment Co. bought the tower for $102 million. This happened in 2003. The building had the newest technology for energy companies at that time.

Charlie Giammalva, who worked for the company that leased out the building, said it was "zero percent occupied." This means no one was using any of the offices. The building's managers tried to get other companies, like ExxonMobil, to rent space. But by July 2003, no companies had agreed to move in.

In 2004, another large company, ChevronTexaco, bought the building. They paid $340 million for it. By 2005, ChevronTexaco announced they would move their offices from another building into 1500 Louisiana Street. By 2006, about 4,000 employees were working in the building.
