What is 1918 Eighth Avenue?
1918 Eighth Avenue is a modern office building. It was designed to be a great place for businesses to work. The building is very large, covering about 658,744-square-foot (61,199.3 m2) of space. That's like having more than ten football fields inside!
Who Built and Owns It?
The company that developed this huge building was Schnitzer West, LLC. They are experts at creating big projects like this. After it was built, the building was sold. Now, it is owned by a company connected to JPMorgan Chase. They bought it for a lot of money in 2011.
First Companies to Move In
Even before the building was fully finished, companies were excited to move in. On August 25, 2008, a law firm called Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro became the first tenant. They rented a large area of the building, about 21,000 square feet (2,000 m2).
Later, a very well-known company, Amazon.com, decided to rent a huge part of the building. They signed a long-term lease for more than two-thirds of all the office space! This made 1918 Eighth Avenue a very important location for Amazon.
