The 1986 Atlantic 10 Conference Baseball Tournament was an exciting college baseball competition. It took place from May 9 to May 11, 1986. The main goal of the tournament was to find the best baseball team in the Atlantic 10 Conference. This event was the eighth time this tournament had been held. It happened at the Rutgers University campus in Piscataway, New Jersey. The Rutgers team won the championship. This was their second time winning the title. By winning, they earned a special spot in the bigger 1986 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament.

How Teams Qualified and Played

This tournament had a special way of picking teams and playing games. The Atlantic 10 Conference was split into two groups: the East Division and the West Division. The top two teams from each division got to play in the tournament.

Tournament Structure

The way the tournament worked was pretty cool. The winner of one division played against the second-place team from the other division in the first game. For example, the top team from the East Division played the second-place team from the West Division.

The teams played in a double-elimination tournament. This means a team had to lose two games before they were completely out of the competition. If a team lost once, they still had a chance to win the whole thing!
