In 2017, Liberia held important elections on October 10. People voted for a new President and members of the House of Representatives. These elections were managed by the National Elections Commission (NEC).
No candidate won more than half of the votes in the first round. This meant a second round of voting, called a "run-off," was needed. The run-off election took place on December 26, 2017. In the end, George Weah won the election with about 62% of the votes.
