On April 17, 2019, a tour bus had an accident in Caniço, a town on the island of Madeira, Portugal. The bus was carrying 56 people, mostly tourists from Germany. Sadly, 29 people died in the crash, all of them German. Another 27 people were hurt, including the Portuguese driver and the tour guide.

What Happened?
The accident happened on April 17, 2019, in Caniço, a town on the island of Madeira, Portugal. A bus carrying 56 people, mostly tourists from Germany, crashed. Help and Support
After the accident, leaders from both Portugal and Germany offered their support. The Portuguese Prime Minister, António Costa, sent his support to the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel. The President of Portugal, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, also planned to visit the site where the accident happened. To help the victims and their families, the German foreign minister, Heiko Maas, traveled to Madeira on April 18.
