3 Ninjas is a fun martial arts comedy film from 1992. It was directed by Jon Turteltaub. The movie stars Victor Wong, Michael Treanor, Max Elliott Slade, and Chad Power. This film was the only 3 Ninjas movie made by Touchstone Pictures. Other movies in the series were made by TriStar Pictures. The story is about three young brothers. They learn amazing martial arts skills from their Japanese grandfather. Then, they have to face a bad guy who is an old enemy of their family.

The Story of 3 Ninjas

Every year, three brothers visit their grandfather, Mori Tanaka. Twelve-year-old Samuel, eleven-year-old Jeffrey, and eight-year-old Michael go to his cabin. Mori teaches his grandsons the art of ninjutsu. This is a special type of martial arts.

Ninja Training and New Names

As summer ends, Mori gives each boy a new "ninja" name. These names fit their personalities. Samuel becomes 'Rocky', Jeffrey is 'Colt', and Michael is 'Tum-Tum'. They are now ready for anything!

A Family Enemy Appears

Meanwhile, the boys' father, Sam Douglas, works for the FBI. He is trying to catch a criminal named Hugo Snyder. Snyder sells dangerous weapons. Snyder escapes from Sam's trap. He uses his own ninja helpers to get away.

Snyder then visits Mori, who used to be his business partner. Snyder's ninjas try to fight Mori. But Mori easily beats them. The boys help their grandfather. They defeat two ninjas, even though Mori told them to stay inside.

Snyder's Threat and a New Plan

Snyder threatens Mori's family. He wants Sam to stop chasing him. Mori scolds the boys for getting involved. When the boys go home, their dad is not happy about their new ninja names. But Rocky's friend, Emily, likes his new name.

Snyder plans to kidnap the boys. He wants to use them to make Sam stop his investigation. Since the FBI is watching the family, Snyder's helper, Nigel Brown, calls his nephew Fester. Fester is a small-time criminal. Fester and his friends, Hammer and Marcus, try to kidnap the boys. But Sam and the FBI agents are there, so they can't.

School Day Challenges

The next day, Fester and his friends follow the boys to school. But they get into a small car accident with a police car. Emily gets separated from the boys. She meets some bullies who steal her bike.

At recess, the boys challenge the bullies to a basketball game. The brothers are behind by nine points. But they score nine points in a row! The bullies try to cheat, but they fail. The brothers win the game and the bullies lose their bikes.

The Home Invasion

That night, Colt learns that Snyder is the criminal their father is after. The boys are left with a babysitter. Jessica, their mom, leaves to pick up Sam. Fester and his friends pretend to deliver pizza. They get into the house and tie up the babysitter.

The brothers think it's a home invasion. They put on their ninja robes. They use their ninja skills and things around the house to fight back. After a while, Fester and his friends try to find a way to get the upper hand. Fester calls Emily to the house and takes her hostage.

Ninja Skills in Action

Hammer and Marcus get sick from a trap the boys set. Tum-Tum and Emily defeat Fester. Rocky and Colt defeat Hammer. Tum-Tum defeats Marcus. The boys free the babysitter. But then, Snyder's bodyguard, Rushmore, and Nigel Brown overpower the boys.

The boys manage to escape. They also manage to stop Rushmore. Snyder then faces Mori. He challenges Mori to a fight for the boys' freedom. Snyder is younger and faster. He almost beats Mori. But Mori remembers some jelly beans Tum-Tum gave him. He uses them to gag Snyder.

The Final Showdown

Snyder tries to grab a gun. But Sam, the boys' dad, shoots and stops him. Snyder and his men are arrested. Sam tells his boys they can keep visiting their grandpa every summer. He takes the rest of the night off. The family, including Mori, goes out for pizza. Mori doesn't really like pizza, though!

On the way home from school, the bullies try to take Tum-Tum’s bike again. One bully shoves Rocky and slaps him. Emily tells Rocky to "show off." Rocky uses his ninja skills to beat the bully. The other bullies run away. Rocky, Colt, Tum-Tum, and Emily get their bikes back and ride off.
