Religious Differences Cause Disagreement
In the year 571, a group called the Monophysites once again disagreed with the decisions made at the Council of Chalcedon. This council was a big meeting of Christian leaders held many years before. The Monophysites believed that Jesus Christ had only one nature, while the council had decided he had two natures (both human and divine). This disagreement led to another split, or "schism," within the Christian church. It was a time when different groups had strong beliefs about important religious ideas.
A Leader in Japan Passes Away
In 571, Emperor Kimmei of Japan died. He was the 29th emperor of Japan. Emperor Kimmei was born in the year 509. He played an important role in the history of Japan during his reign.
