The Story Begins
The movie starts with Hansel and Gretel lost in a forest. They meet a strange creature who calls himself "The Evil One." Nobody knows his real name. Bubi, one of the seven dwarves, secretly follows this creature. He hears The Evil One singing a song that reveals his true name. Bubi remembers it!
Meanwhile, at the castle, Snow White has become a mother. Her husband, the jester, has been gone for a long time. Suddenly, The Evil One appears and claims Snow White's baby. He says he has a deal with Spliss, one of Snow White's guards. Spliss wished for a new haircut, and in return, he signed a paper giving Snow White's child to The Evil One.
Snow White is very upset. The Evil One agrees to a challenge: if someone can guess his real name within 48 hours, Snow White can keep her baby.
The Dwarves Reunite
Snow White goes to find the seven dwarves, but only Bubi is still living in their old cabin. Bubi explains that the other dwarves left to find successful jobs. Snow White asks Bubi to gather the dwarves and help her find The Evil One's name.
The other six dwarves are working in a nearby town:
- Cookie, Cloudy, and Sunny run an inn.
- Speedy is the chief of the fire department.
- Ralfie works at a brewery.
- Tschakko helps get rid of pests.
Bubi finds them all and convinces them to help Snow White. They decide to seek advice from a wise old man called The Wise Grey.
A Trip to Another World
The dwarves can't find The Wise Grey in their world. His diary says he went to "The Fishing Palace" in another world. The dwarves use a magic mirror, which once belonged to the former queen, to travel. They jump through the mirror and land in modern Germany!
At the same time, The Evil One visits the witch, who is actually the former queen. The witch often forgets names. So, The Evil One writes his real name, Rumpelstiltskin, on a paper. He hides it in the witch's magic book. The Evil One is worried someone might be looking for his name. The witch uses her crystal ball and sees the dwarves on their mission. Since she's still mad at Snow White and the dwarves, she sends The Evil One to modern Germany to stop them. The Evil One has a special power: he can change his shape!
Finding the Clues
The dwarves find The Wise Grey working at a fish and chips stand. He knows The Evil One but doesn't know his real name. He tells the dwarves they should look for the name in the witch's candy house. The dwarves use another magic mirror at a train station to return to their own world. The Evil One tries to stop them, but he doesn't succeed.
The dwarves go to the candy house. The witch tries to hide, and The Evil One is there too. The dwarves cleverly manage to get the envelope with The Evil One's name from the witch's book.
The Big Reveal
The dwarves rush back to Snow White. However, The Evil One had tricked them! He gave them an envelope with the wrong name, so they think his name is Mother Hulda. They also realize that it wasn't Snow White who visited them earlier, but The Evil One in disguise.
Finally, Bubi speaks up. He knew the real name all along but couldn't get anyone to listen! He reveals that The Evil One's real name is Rumpelstiltskin. Snow White gets to keep her baby!
The dwarves also meet their former leader, Brummboss, who became a king. He asks if he can be a dwarf again, but the others say no, because there are already seven dwarves.
