The 90th Regiment of Foot was a special group of soldiers, called a line infantry regiment, that served in the British Army. They were active during the American Revolutionary War, a big conflict where the American colonies fought for their independence from Great Britain.

The Regiment's Story

This regiment was first formed in a place called Yorkshire, England, in October 1779. Think of "raised" as meaning they gathered the soldiers and officially started the group.

Soon after, in January 1780, the 90th Regiment was sent to the Leeward Islands. These islands are located in the Caribbean Sea. They were under the command of a leader named General Loftus Anthony Tottenham.

After their time serving, the regiment returned to England in 1783. The following year, in 1784, the 90th Regiment of Foot was "disbanded" in Yorkshire. This means the group was officially closed down, and the soldiers went their separate ways.
