A Sculptor's Journey

A.B.S. Sprigge was born in London, England, in 1906. She loved art from a young age. From 1926 to 1927, she studied at the famous Royal College of Art.

Learning from the Best

At the Royal College of Art, Sprigge had excellent teachers. One of her tutors was Henry Moore, who became a very famous sculptor himself. Learning from such a master helped shape her artistic skills.

Creating Art

During the 1930s, Sprigge became well-known for her sculptures. She worked with different natural materials. These included hard stone, smooth marble, and warm wood. Each material allowed her to create unique textures and shapes.

Her artwork was shown in important galleries in London. These included Agnews and the Leicester Galleries. In 1936, she even had her own special show. This solo exhibition took place at the Bloomsbury Gallery in London.
