Amanchi Venkata Subrahmanyam (born January 2, 1957 – died November 8, 2013), often called AVS, was a well-known Indian actor and comedian. He was also a producer, director, and journalist. AVS was famous for his work in Telugu cinema, which are movies made in the Telugu language.
He was especially loved for his funny way of delivering lines and his great expressions. AVS acted in more than 500 movies. He won four state Nandi Awards, including awards for Best Comedian and Best Character Actor.
Early Life and Career
AVS was born in Tenali, Guntur district, Andhra Pradesh, on January 2, 1957. He started his journey in the film industry thanks to director Bapu. His first movie was Mister Pellam in 1993.
This movie helped him become a popular comedy star in Telugu films. He won many awards for his role in Mister Pellam, including a Nandi Award from the Government of Andhra Pradesh. He received many awards for his work in both movies and TV shows.
AVS also produced two movies: Uncle and Ori Nee Prema Bangaaram Kanu...!. He directed four films, including Super Heroes, Ori Ni Prema Bangaaram Kaanu..!, Roommates, and Kothimooka. He was also the General Secretary of the Movie Artistes Association for three terms.
Death
AVS had health problems with his kidneys and liver for some time. He had a liver transplant in 2008. Sadly, he passed away on November 8, 2013, at his son's home in Hyderabad. He died due to multiple organ failure.

AVS won several important awards for his acting:
- Nandi Award for Best Character Actor for the movie Kothimooka (2011).
- Nandi Special Jury Award for his work in Uncle (2000).
- Nandi Award for Best Male Comedian for the film Subha Lagnam (1994).
- Nandi Special Jury Award for his role in Mr. Pellam (1993).
