A Girl for All Time is a British company that creates dolls, doll accessories, and books. It was started by Frances Cain. This brand is special because it offers two main types of dolls. Some dolls are from different times in history. Others are modern-day friends living in London.
The company first launched in 2012 with its historical doll line. These dolls, their clothes, and books follow a made-up English family. Their stories span 500 years of British history. In 2016, the company added modern dolls. These dolls are friends who live in London today.
Frances Cain, the founder, introduced the brand at the London Toy Fair in 2012. The company has won many awards for its doll designs and quality. This includes nine Oppenheim Toyportfolio awards.

Dolls and Accessories
A Girl for All Time makes two main doll collections. These are called Your Historical Girl and Your Modern Girl. Both collections feature 16-inch dolls. They also have doll costumes and other fun accessories. All the dolls are made of vinyl. Their elbows and knees can bend, making them easy to pose.
Your Historical Girl Dolls
The Your Historical Girl collection has seven characters. This line tells the stories of the first-born girls in the Marchmont family. Their adventures take place over 500 years. This starts from the Tudor period and goes up to modern times.
Matilda, Your Tudor Girl, was the first doll in this collection. Her story is set during the time of King Henry VIII. Matilda keeps a secret diary. She hides it in her travel trunk. This trunk is then passed down to the first-born girl in each new generation of Marchmont women.
Other historical dolls include:
- Elinor, Your Elizabethan Girl: Her story happens in London. It is set at the end of Queen Elizabeth I's rule.
- Lydia, Your Georgian Girl: Her story is set in Boston, Massachusetts. This is before the American Revolutionary War.
- Helena, Your Regency Girl: She lives in high-society Regency England.
- Amelia, Your Victorian Girl: Her story is set in London in the 1880s.
- Clementine, Your 1940s Girl: Her story takes place during the Blitz in London.
- Sam, Your 1960s Girl: She lives in Paris in the mid-1960s.
Each historical doll comes with a costume. This outfit is inspired by the time period the character lives in. You can also buy extra costumes and accessories. Three of the characters even have novels that tell their exciting stories.
Your Modern Girl Dolls
The brand's second collection is Your Modern Girl. This line features modern-day friends. They all live in England. There are four dolls in this collection.
Maya, Your Modern Girl, was released in 2016. Her creation was supported by a special online fundraising campaign called Kickstarter. She is a descendant of Matilda Marchmont. Nisha, Your Modern Girl, also came out in 2016. She is Maya's best friend and has both Eastern Indian and British heritage.
Bex, Your Modern Girl, was released in 2018. She is Afro Caribbean. Max, Your Modern Boy, is currently the only boy doll from this brand.
Other accessories available include stuffed pets for the characters, tea sets, more costumes, and hairbrushes.
