Storyline

The movie takes place in 1958 in a small Swedish town called Molkom. Two children, Mårten from Stockholm and Annika from Uppsala, are sent there for the summer. They are "summer children" who will stay with a man named Yngve Johansson.

Yngve has taken in summer children before, but it hasn't always gone well. At first, Mårten and Annika don't really like Yngve. They find him a bit strange.

However, as the summer goes on, Mårten and Annika start to like each other more and more. They also begin to see Yngve in a new light. Maybe he isn't as bad as they first thought? This special summer will change their lives forever.
