A Tribe Called Quest was a super cool alternative hip hop group that started way back in 1985. They are probably best known for their awesome song "Can I Kick It?". The main members of the group were Q-Tip, who was an MC (rapper) and producer, Phife Dawg (also known as Phife Diggy or Malik Taylor), who was also an MC, and Ali Shaheed Muhammad, who was the DJ and producer. Another member named Jarobi White was part of the group until 1991. Overall, they released five studio albums that fans loved.

Their Musical Journey

A Tribe Called Quest began their musical adventure in 1985. They signed with Geffen Records in 1989, which was a big step for them. Their very first album, called People's Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm, came out in 1990.

In 1991, the group released their second album, The Low End Theory. This album was very popular. Another album, Midnight Marauders, was released in 1993. It did really well, reaching number eight on the American album charts.

Later, in 1996, they released Beats, Rhymes and Life. This album was a huge success, hitting number one on the American album charts! Rolling Stone magazine, a famous music publication, gave it a great review.

Their final album, The Love Movement, came out in 1998. It reached number three on the American charts. This album was even nominated for a Grammy Award in 1999 for Best Rap Album. A Tribe Called Quest performed their last shows during Kanye West's "The Yeezus Tour" in 2013.
