Abbaspur, also known as Bandi or Bandi Abbaspur, is a special area called a Tehsil. It is located very close to the Line of Control. This line acts like a border, separating parts of Kashmir controlled by Pakistan from those controlled by India.

Abbaspur used to be called Gaopalpur. This tehsil includes many different areas. It stretches north from Bandi Abbaspur. A large mountain facing the city is called Tangyran. Another mountain area, near the Poonch River between Abbaspur and Potha, is known as Choyi. Abbaspur is an important administrative center for the Poonch district in Azad Kashmir.

Where is Abbaspur Located?

Abbaspur is found at coordinates 33°48′50″N 73°58′40″E / 33.81389°N 73.97778°E / 33.81389; 73.97778. It sits quite high up, about 3,809 feet (1,161 meters) above sea level.

This town is about 25 kilometers (15.5 miles) away from Poonch city in Jammu and Kashmir. It is also about 167 kilometers (104 miles) from Islamabad, Pakistan, which is the capital city of Pakistan.
