Abigail Marie Clancy (born 10 January 1986) is an English model and television personality. She became well-known as the runner-up on Britain's Next Top Model (series 2) in 2006. Later, in 2013, she won series 11 of the popular TV show Strictly Come Dancing. From 2015 to 2017, Abbey also hosted Britain's Next Top Model.

Early Life and Beginnings

Abbey Clancy was born in Liverpool on 10 January 1986. She is the second of four children. Abbey grew up in Woolton, a suburb of Liverpool. She went to St Mary's Primary School and St Julie's Catholic High School. Before her modelling career, Abbey was part of a girl band called Genie Queen. The band was managed by Andy McCluskey from the famous music group Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD).

Modelling Journey

In the summer of 2006, Abbey Clancy joined the second season of Britain's Next Top Model. This TV show on Living TV looked for new modelling talent. Abbey was one of thirteen finalists. She competed for ten weeks to win a modelling contract. Abbey made it all the way to the final show. She finished as the runner-up in the competition.

After Britain's Next Top Model, Abbey modelled for many magazines and newspapers. In May 2007, she was on the cover of Arena magazine. She also modelled with a Triumph Bonneville Motorbike.

Abbey was chosen to appear in Sports Illustrated magazine in 2010. This was for their special swimsuit edition. She was featured because of her connection to footballer Peter Crouch. For the magazine, she was photographed wearing body paint that looked like an England football shirt.

In 2010, Abbey also appeared in a campaign for Umbro sportswear. She modelled an England shirt alongside other partners of famous footballers. Abbey also walked in the Giles Deacon fashion show for his Spring 2011 collection.

In March 2011, Abbey Clancy's profile appeared on the Elite Model Management website in New York. In July 2013, she was part of a campaign for London designer Hasan Hejazi. She also modelled for the August 2011 cover of UK Esquire magazine.

In December 2013, Abbey was featured in LOVE magazine's Advent Calendar. She appeared with other models like Suki Waterhouse and Cara Delevingne.

Abbey continued to appear on magazine covers. In July 2014, she was on the cover of British Marie Claire. In March 2015, she was on the cover of British Elle.

In October 2019, Abbey Clancy and her daughter Sophia Crouch worked with Lipsy. This is a fashion brand based in London. They launched Lipsy's Autumn/Winter 2019 collection together. The collection was also launched in the UAE in January 2020.

Television Appearances

Abbey Clancy has appeared in many TV shows. She was a guest on programmes like Richard & Judy, The Chris Moyles Show, and This Morning. She also had her own reality TV series. It was called Abbey and Janice: Beauty and the Best. This show followed her trying to become a model in Los Angeles. Janice Dickinson was her mentor. The show aired in 2007 on Living TV.

Abbey also took part in the third series of Hell's Kitchen. She was the third contestant voted off by the public.

On 10 May 2009, Abbey featured on Chris Moyles' Quiz Night. She won her episode and was the overall winner of the first series.

In 2013, Abbey Clancy won the eleventh series of Strictly Come Dancing. Her professional dance partner was Aljaž Škorjanec. On 16 November 2013, they received their first perfect "10s" during Blackpool Week. On 30 November 2013, they were the first couple that year to score a perfect "40". This happened during Musicals Week.

In 2015, Abbey was announced as the new host for Britain's Next Top Model. This was ten years after she started her own career on the show.

In June 2023, ITV announced a new show. It is called Abbey Clancy's Celebrity Homes. Abbey will present this interior design show.

In 2019, Abbey Clancy made a small appearance in a music video. She played an angel in the video for the song "In Another Life". This song was by the British rock band the Darkness. Abbey also regularly co-hosts a popular podcast called The Therapy Crouch. She hosts it with her husband, Peter.

Abbey Clancy has often been included in lists of popular and beautiful women. In 2009, she moved up to 12th place in an annual poll. In 2010, she reached 10th place.

In July 2012, The Sun newspaper announced Abbey Clancy as their new Beauty Columnist. However, Abbey faced criticism in her hometown of Liverpool. This was because the city had boycotted the newspaper for a long time. Abbey publicly apologized for writing the column soon after.

Personal Life

Abbey Clancy's brother, Sean, is a footballer. He played for A.F.C. Telford United. He was also in a short-lived TV show called Desperate Scousewives.

Abbey started dating footballer Peter Crouch in 2006. The couple got engaged in July 2009.

On 30 June 2011, Abbey Clancy and Peter Crouch got married. They have four children together. Their daughters are Sophia Ruby (born March 2011) and Liberty Rose (born June 2015). Their sons are Johnny (born January 2018) and Jack (born June 2019).
