Abigail Marie Clancy (born 10 January 1986) is an English model and television star. She first became famous in 2006 as the runner-up on the TV show Britain's Next Top Model. In 2013, she won the popular dancing competition Strictly Come Dancing. She later returned to Britain's Next Top Model as its host.

Early Life and Music

Abbey Clancy was born in Liverpool, England, and has three siblings. She grew up in a part of Liverpool called Woolton. Before she became a famous model, Clancy was in a girl band called Genie Queen. The band was managed by Andy McCluskey, a member of the famous music group Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark.

Career Journey

Becoming a Top Model

In 2006, Clancy competed on the second series of Britain's Next Top Model. She was one of thirteen contestants hoping to win a modeling contract. After ten weeks of challenges, she made it to the final and finished as the runner-up.

Even though she didn't win, the show launched her career. She began appearing in many magazines and newspapers.

  • In 2007, she was on the cover of Arena magazine.
  • In 2010, she was featured in the famous Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue. For the photoshoot, she was cleverly painted to look like she was wearing an England football shirt.
  • She has also modeled for brands like Umbro and walked the runway for designer Giles Deacon.
  • In 2019, she worked with the fashion brand Lipsy on a clothing line with her daughter, Sophia.

Appearing on Television

Clancy has been a popular face on British television for many years. She starred in her own reality show called Abbey and Janice: Beauty and the Best, where she tried to become a model in Los Angeles with help from supermodel Janice Dickinson.

She has also appeared on many other shows:

  • She competed in the cooking show Hell's Kitchen.
  • She was a guest on quiz shows and talk shows like Friday Night with Jonathan Ross and This Morning.
  • In 2011, she co-hosted a show called Great British Hairdresser.

Winning 'Strictly Come Dancing'

In 2013, Clancy took part in the eleventh series of Strictly Come Dancing. She was partnered with professional dancer Aljaž Škorjanec. The pair impressed the judges and the public with their dancing.

During the show's special week in Blackpool, they received their first perfect 10 scores. Later, during "Musicals Week," they earned a perfect score of 40, which was the first one of that series. Clancy and Škorjanec went on to win the competition.

Hosting 'Britain's Next Top Model'

In 2015, ten years after she was a contestant, Clancy returned to Britain's Next Top Model as the new host. She hosted the show until it ended in 2017. In 2023, she also began hosting an interior design show called Abbey Clancy's Celebrity Homes.

Writing a Book

In March 2016, Clancy published her first novel, titled Remember My Name.

Personal Life

Clancy's brother, Sean, is a professional footballer.

In 2006, she began dating the famous footballer Peter Crouch. They got engaged in 2009 and were married on 30 June 2011. Together, they have four children: two daughters, Sophia and Liberty, and two sons, Johnny and Jack.

Clancy and her husband co-host a popular podcast called The Therapy Crouch.
