Abbotsford is a suburb in the city of Dunedin, New Zealand. It is located west of the city centre.
Abbotsford is right next to Green Island. A railway line, the South Island Main Trunk Railway, separates them. Abbotsford is mostly a place where people live. It doesn't have many shops or services of its own. For these, people usually go to Green Island.

The Big Abbotsford Landslide
On August 8, 1979, a huge landslide happened in Abbotsford. It was a very big event! About 69 houses were destroyed or had to be moved. Over 600 people had to leave their homes for safety. Luckily, no one was hurt during this event. This was the largest landslide ever to happen in a New Zealand city.
Sunnyvale Neighbourhood
In the southwest part of Abbotsford, you'll find the Sunnyvale neighbourhood. It is right next to Green Island. For a long time, the main road south from Dunedin went through Sunnyvale. But in 2002, a new motorway was built. This new road goes around Sunnyvale and Fairfield.
Sunnyvale is also home to Sunnyvale Park. This park has a sports arena. It is used by people living in both Abbotsford and Green Island.
