Abdelraouf Salem Nahar al-Rawabdeh (Arabic: عبد الرؤوف الروابدة) was born on February 18, 1939. He is an important political leader from Jordan. He served as the 32nd Prime Minister of Jordan from March 4, 1999, to June 19, 2000. He comes from the northern city of Irbid.

A Career in Jordanian Politics
Abdelraouf al-Rawabdeh has had a long and active career in Jordan's government. He has held many important roles.
Mayor of Amman
In 1983, Al-Rawabdeh became the Mayor of Amman. Amman is the capital city of Jordan. He served as mayor for six years, until 1989.
Joining Parliament
After being mayor, he joined the Jordanian Parliament. This is where laws are made for the country. He was a member of Parliament in 1989. He was elected again in 1993 and 1997. He served in Parliament until 2001.
Leading the Senate
Later, on October 24, 2013, he was chosen for another big role. He became the President of the Senate. The Senate is a part of Jordan's Parliament. Al-Rawabdeh was the first President of the Senate after it grew larger. It went from 60 members to 75 members. He resigned from this position on October 25, 2015. After he left, Faisal al-Fayez took over as President of the Senate.
