Abdoulaye Méïté played for many different football clubs during his career. He started in France and later moved to play in England, Finland, Greece, and Scotland.
Starting at Red Star 93
Méïté began his football journey at the age of 16. His first club was Red Star 93, a team in Paris, France. He joined them in 1998. After two years, a bigger club noticed his talent.
Playing for Olympique de Marseille
In July 2000, Méïté moved to Marseille, a well-known French club. He played in 172 league games for them. He also played in many European competitions. One of his biggest games was the 2004 UEFA Cup Final, where his team reached the final match.
Time with Bolton Wanderers
Méïté joined Bolton Wanderers in England in July 2006. He scored two goals for Bolton. One goal was in an FA Cup game against Arsenal. The other was in a UEFA Cup match against a team from Macedonia.
During his time at Bolton, there was a disagreement about his fitness after a game against Manchester United. After this, he did not play for Bolton again. He then looked for a new team.

In the next season (2009–10), he didn't play much at first. But after some changes, he returned to the team. He played a key role in defense alongside his teammate Jonas Olsson. Their strong defense helped West Bromwich Albion get promoted back to the Premier League. He was released by the club in May 2011.
Playing for Dijon
After leaving West Brom, Méïté returned to France. He signed with Ligue 1 team Dijon FCO in June 2011. When Dijon was moved down to a lower league, Méïté left the club.
Adventures in Finland and Beyond
Méïté then moved to Finland. He joined Veikkausliiga team FC Honka in March 2013. He played very well there. He was even named the Veikkausliiga Player of the Month in August 2013.
After Finland, he played for Doncaster Rovers in England in 2014. He then had a short spell with OFI Crete in Greece. In 2015, he joined Ross County in Scotland. He later returned to Finland to play for SJK in 2016.
His last clubs included Newport County in Wales in 2016. Finally, in November 2017, he signed with FC Lusitanos in Andorra.
