History of Aberdeen Station
Aberdeen station has a long and interesting history. It has changed a lot since it first opened.
Early Days and Growth
The station opened on November 4, 1867. It was first called Aberdeen Joint. It replaced two older stations: Aberdeen Guild Street and Aberdeen Waterloo. This new station brought different railway companies together.
Rebuilding and Renaming
The station was rebuilt between 1913 and 1916. This made it bigger and more modern. Later, in 1952, its name was changed to simply Aberdeen. This is the name we know today.
Modern Upgrades
More recently, the station had a big refurbishment. This happened between 2007 and 2008. These updates helped make the station ready for modern train travel.
