The Story of Abeyta

Abeyta was established in 1914. It was named after Mrs. Abeyta, who was the mother of a person named Casimiro Barela.

A Short-Lived Town

For a town to grow and thrive, it needs important services. One of these is a post office. A post office helps people send and receive letters and packages. It also connects the town to the outside world.

Abeyta did have a post office, but it was only open for a very short time. It opened in 1914 and closed in the same year. This quick closure suggests that the town did not grow as planned. Without enough people or activity, the town soon became empty. This is why Abeyta is now known as a ghost town.
