Abhishek Kapoor, born on August 6, 1971, is a talented Indian filmmaker. He works as a director, writer, and producer in Hindi cinema, also known as Bollywood. He used to be an actor too. Abhishek Kapoor is famous for directing popular movies like Rock On!! (2008), Kai Po Che! (2013), and Kedarnath (2018). He has been nominated for the Filmfare Award for Best Director for his work on Rock On!! and Kai Po Che!.

Abhishek Kapoor's Journey in Films
Starting as an Actor and Director (1996–2006)
Abhishek Kapoor began his career as an actor in 1996. He appeared in films such as Aashique Mastane and Uff! Yeh Mohabbat. These early acting roles were not very successful.
Later, he decided to try directing. His first movie as a director was the sports drama Aryan in 2006. This film also did not do well.
Finding Success and New Challenges (2008–2016)
In 2008, Abhishek Kapoor had a big breakthrough. He wrote and directed the musical drama Rock On!!. This movie introduced new actors like Farhan Akhtar and Prachi Desai. Critics really liked Rock On!! for its fresh story and music. The film won Kapoor the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi. He also won the Filmfare Award for Best Story for it.
In 2013, he wrote and directed Kai Po Che!, a sports drama about friends. The movie was based on a book called The 3 Mistakes of My Life by Chetan Bhagat. Kai Po Che! was shown at the 63rd Berlin International Film Festival. It received great reviews and was a success at the box office. For this film, Kapoor won the Filmfare Award for Best Screenplay.
His next film was Fitoor in 2016. It was a romantic drama inspired by the classic novel Great Expectations. The movie had a great soundtrack and beautiful visuals. However, it did not perform very well at the box office.
Later in 2016, he also wrote the story for Rock On 2. This was a sequel to his earlier hit Rock On!!. Unfortunately, Rock On 2 did not get good reviews and was not a success.
Recent Work (2018–Present)
In 2018, Abhishek Kapoor directed and wrote Kedarnath. This romantic disaster film told a love story during the 2013 North India floods. The movie was a commercial success and received positive reviews.
In 2021, he directed Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui. This film was a social romantic drama starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Vaani Kapoor. It told a unique story about love and acceptance. The movie was praised by critics and did well at the box office. It also earned Kapoor his second Filmfare Award for Best Story.
Abhishek Kapoor has also started his own film production company called Guy in the Sky Pictures.
