Ekta Kapoor (born June 7, 1975) is a famous Indian producer of television shows and movies. She is known for her work in Hindi TV and Bollywood films. She started the company Balaji Telefilms, where she is the creative head. Because of her huge success, many people call her the "Queen of Indian Television."
When she was just 17, Kapoor started her career. She became famous for creating many popular Hindi soap operas in the late 1990s and 2000s. Some of her most well-known TV shows include Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, Kasautii Zindagii Kay, and Kahiin To Hoga.
In 2001, she started a movie company called Balaji Motion Pictures. Through this company, she has produced many hit films like The ... Picture, Lootera, Main Tera Hero, and Dream Girl.
In 2017, she launched ALTBalaji, a streaming service where you can watch shows and movies online. In 2020, she received the Padma Shri, one of India's highest awards, for her work in the arts. She also won the International Emmy Directorate Award in 2023.

Personal Life
Ekta Kapoor comes from a family of actors. Her father is the famous actor Jeetendra, and her mother is Shobha Kapoor. Her younger brother, Tusshar Kapoor, is also a Bollywood actor.
She went to the Bombay Scottish School in Mahim and later attended Mithibai College.
Kapoor is a single mother to a son named Ravie Kapoor, who was born on January 27, 2019, through surrogacy. Surrogacy is a process where another woman carries and gives birth to a baby for someone else.
Career
Ekta Kapoor began her career at 17, working as an intern for a filmmaker. With financial help from her father, she started her own production company, Balaji Telefilms. At first, her projects were not successful, and six of her first shows were rejected.
Her big break came in 1995 with the comedy show Hum Paanch, which became a huge hit.
The "K" Factor
In the 2000s, Kapoor became known for starting many of her show titles with the letter 'K'. She believed it was a lucky letter for her. This led to a string of very successful shows, including:

These shows were incredibly popular and made her a major force in Indian television. By 2001, she was producing over 30 hours of TV shows every week.
Expanding Her Empire
After her success with Hindi shows, Kapoor started producing shows in other Indian languages like Tamil, Telugu, and Punjabi. She has created and produced more than 130 Indian soap operas. Some of her other famous shows are Pavitra Rishta, Bade Acche Lagte Hain, Yeh Hai Mohabbatein, Jodha Akbar, and Naagin.
In 2001, she moved into making movies with her company Balaji Motion Pictures. Her first film was Kyo Kii... Main Jhuth Nahin Bolta. She went on to produce many more films, including the successful Shootout at Lokhandwala and Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai.
In 2012, Kapoor started the Institute of Creative Excellence, a school to train people for careers in media.
