Vaani Kapoor (born on August 23, 1988) is an actress from India. She mainly works in Hindi films. After studying tourism in college, she started her acting career.
Her first movie was a fun romantic comedy called Shuddh Desi Romance (2013). For this role, she won an award for being the best new female actress. Later, she played a transgender woman in the movie Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui (2021). She received a lot of praise for this role.

Early Life
Vaani Kapoor was born in Delhi, India. Her family is Punjabi Hindu. Her father, Shiv Kapoor, sells furniture. Her mother, Dimpy Kapoor, used to be a teacher and now works in marketing.
Vaani went to Mata Jai Kaur Public School in Ashok Vihar, North West Delhi. After school, she studied tourism at Indira Gandhi National Open University. She then worked at famous hotels like Oberoi Hotels & Resorts and ITC Hotel. She also worked as a model for Elite Model Management.
Career Highlights
Starting Out and Taking a Break (2013–2017)

Vaani Kapoor began her film journey with Yash Raj Films. She signed a deal to make three movies with them. Her first movie was Shuddh Desi Romance. She played a supporting role alongside Sushant Singh Rajput and Parineeti Chopra.
The movie was about couples living together before marriage. Critics liked the film. Vaani's acting as a bold girl named Tara was also praised. Many people thought she was a good new actress. Shuddh Desi Romance earned a lot of money and was a big success. Vaani won the Best Female Debut award at the 59th Filmfare Awards.
Her next movie was a Tamil romantic comedy called Aaha Kalyanam. This was a remake of a Hindi film. She acted with Nani and learned the Tamil language for the movie. However, critics did not like this film much, and her acting was not well received.
In 2016, Vaani appeared in Befikre with Ranveer Singh. This movie was set in Paris. She played Shyra Gill, a French tour guide of Indian background. The film got negative reviews and did not do well at the box office. After this, she appeared in a music video in 2017.
Action Films and New Roles (2019–Present)
After a three-year break from movies, Vaani Kapoor returned in 2019. She starred in the action thriller War with Hrithik Roshan. This film was a huge hit. It broke many records and became the highest-earning Indian film of 2019. It made over 475 crore rupees worldwide.
However, some people felt her role in War was too small. They thought she was mainly there to add glamour. In 2021, she acted with Akshay Kumar in Bell Bottom. This was her first movie not made by Yash Raj Films. The movie did not do well. Some critics felt her role was still too small.
Later in 2021, Vaani Kapoor starred in Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui. She acted opposite Ayushmann Khurrana. She played a transgender woman in the film. She received a lot of praise for her strong performance. Critics said she truly understood her character.
In 2022, Vaani appeared in Shamshera with Ranbir Kapoor. This movie was delayed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. It received very negative reviews and did not do well at the box office. In 2024, she was in the comedy film Khel Khel Mein.
Vaani Kapoor will next appear in a thriller series called Mandala Murders. She also has upcoming films like Raid 2, Badtameez Gill, and Abir Gulaal.
