Vaani Kapoor was born on August 23, 1988. She is an Indian actress who stars in Hindi films. Before becoming an actress, she studied tourism. Her first movie was a romantic comedy called Shuddh Desi Romance in 2013. For this role, she won an award for Best Female Debut.
After some early movies, she took a break for three years. Later, she found success with roles in action thrillers like War (2019) and Raid 2 (2025). She also received praise for playing a transgender woman in the romantic comedy Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui (2021).

Vaani Kapoor's Early Life
Vaani Kapoor was born in Delhi, India. Her family is Punjabi Hindu. Her father, Shiv Kapoor, works in furniture exports. Her mother, Dimpy Kapoor, was a teacher and later a marketing executive.
Vaani went to school at Mata Jai Kaur Public School in Delhi. She then studied tourism at Indira Gandhi National Open University. After her studies, she worked at hotels like Oberoi Hotels & Resorts in Jaipur. She also worked at ITC Hotel Mumbai. Before acting, she worked as a model for Elite Model Management.

Starting Out and Taking a Break (2013–2017)

Vaani Kapoor began her film career with Yash Raj Films. She signed a deal to make three movies with them. Her first role was in the romantic comedy Shuddh Desi Romance. She acted alongside Sushant Singh Rajput and Parineeti Chopra. The movie was about couples living together before marriage. Critics liked the film, and Vaani's role as Tara was praised. Many thought she was a good new actress. Shuddh Desi Romance was a big success at the box office. Vaani won the Best Female Debut award at the 59th Filmfare Awards.
Her next movie was a Tamil romantic comedy called Aaha Kalyanam. This film was a remake of a Hindi movie. She learned the Tamil language for this role. However, critics did not like the movie, and her acting was not well received. In 2016, Vaani appeared in Befikre, a romantic comedy set in Paris. She played Shyra Gill, a French tour guide. This film also received negative reviews and did not do well at the box office. After these films, she took a break from acting.
Success with War and Beyond (2019–Present)
After a three-year break, Vaani Kapoor returned to films in 2019. She starred in the action thriller War with Hrithik Roshan. This movie was a huge success and became one of the highest-grossing Indian films of 2019. However, some critics felt her role was small.
In 2021, she acted with Akshay Kumar in Bell Bottom. This was her first movie not made by Yash Raj Films. The film did not do well financially. Later that year, Vaani starred in Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui with Ayushmann Khurrana. She played a transgender woman in the film. Her performance was highly praised by critics. They said she played her character very well.
In 2022, Vaani appeared in Shamshera with Ranbir Kapoor. This film was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It received negative reviews and did not do well at the box office.
