Ranbir Kapoor (born September 28, 1982) is an Indian actor famous for his roles in Hindi-language movies. He is one of the highest-paid actors in Hindi cinema and has been on Forbes India's Celebrity 100 list since 2012. Kapoor has won many awards, including seven Filmfare Awards.
He is the son of actors Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh, and the grandson of the famous actor and director Raj Kapoor. Kapoor studied filmmaking at the School of Visual Arts and acting at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute. He started his career by helping director Sanjay Leela Bhansali on the movie Black (2005). His first acting role was in Bhansali's movie Saawariya (2007).
Kapoor became a well-known star with successful movies like the coming-of-age film Wake Up Sid, the romantic comedy Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani (both 2009), and the political movie Raajneeti (2010). His roles as a troubled musician in Rockstar (2011) and a cheerful deaf-and-mute man in Barfi! (2012) won him two Best Actor awards at Filmfare. The hit movie Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013) made him even more popular.
After a few less successful films, he starred in the hits Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016) and Sanju (2018). For playing actor Sanjay Dutt in Sanju, he won another Filmfare Award. Early Life and Family Background
Ranbir Kapoor was born on September 28, 1982, in Bombay (now Mumbai), Maharashtra, India. His parents, Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh, were both famous actors in the Hindi film industry. He comes from a long line of actors, as he is the great-grandson of Prithviraj Kapoor and the grandson of Raj Kapoor. His older sister, Riddhima, is a designer. Actresses Karisma Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor are his cousins.

Kapoor attended the Bombay Scottish School. He has said he wasn't very interested in his studies but loved sports, especially football. He has also spoken about how his parents' difficult relationship affected him as a child. This experience gave him a lot of emotions, which he believes pushed him toward a career in movies.
After finishing his tenth-grade exams, he worked as an assistant director for his father on the movie Aa Ab Laut Chalen (1999). This helped him build a closer relationship with his father.

After working on Black, director Sanjay Leela Bhansali chose Kapoor for the main role in his 2007 movie Saawariya. He starred alongside Sonam Kapoor and Rani Mukerji. His next film, Bachna Ae Haseeno (2008), was a romantic comedy and his first commercial success. In 2009, Kapoor starred in three films. The first was Wake Up Sid, where he played a lazy teenager who learns to be responsible. The film was a surprise hit, and critics praised his acting.

After a year away, Kapoor appeared in several films that struggled at the box office, including Roy and Bombay Velvet. In Bombay Velvet, he played a boxer in the 1960s. Despite his hard work, the film did not do well.
He then starred with Deepika Padukone again in Tamasha (2015). While the film received mixed reviews, Kapoor's performance was praised. His career saw an upswing with Karan Johar's romantic drama Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016), which was a box office hit.

Kapoor is open about his life and has said his parents' marriage taught him a lot about relationships. During the filming of Bachna Ae Haseeno in 2008, he dated his co-star Deepika Padukone. The couple later broke up.
In 2018, he began dating Alia Bhatt, his co-star in Brahmāstra. They got married on April 14, 2022, in a private ceremony at their home in Mumbai. In November 2022, their daughter, Raha, was born.
Off-Screen Work
Besides acting, Kapoor is a big football fan and supports many charities. He is the vice-captain of the All Stars Football Club, which plays matches to raise money for good causes. In 2014, he became a co-owner of the Indian Super League football team, Mumbai City FC.
