Kareena Kapoor Khan (born Kareena Kapoor on September 21, 1980) is a famous Indian actress who appears in Hindi cinema, also known as Bollywood. Since starting her career in 2000, she has become one of the most popular and highest-paid actresses in India. She is known for playing many different kinds of characters, from funny romantic roles to serious dramatic ones. Kapoor has won many awards, including six Filmfare Awards.
She made her first movie appearance in the 2000 film Refugee. The next year, she starred in the hit drama Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham..., which made her very famous. After a few years of less successful films, she took on more challenging roles. Her role as a woman facing hardship in the 2004 film Chameli was a turning point. She also received praise for her roles in the dramas Dev (2004) and Omkara (2006).
Kapoor won the Filmfare Award for Best Actress for her role as a cheerful and talkative woman in the romantic comedy Jab We Met (2007). Some of her biggest box-office hits include the comedies 3 Idiots (2009) and Golmaal 3 (2010), the action film Bodyguard (2011), and the drama Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015). Early Life and Family Background
Kareena Kapoor was born on September 21, 1980, in Bombay (now Mumbai), India. She is often called by her nickname, 'Bebo'. She comes from the famous Kapoor family, which has many actors. Her parents, Randhir Kapoor and Babita, were both actors. Her older sister, Karisma Kapoor, is also an actress. Her grandfather was the legendary actor and filmmaker Raj Kapoor.

Kapoor said her name "Kareena" was inspired by the book Anna Karenina, which her mother was reading when she was pregnant. Growing up surrounded by movies, she became interested in acting at a young age. She was inspired by actresses like Nargis and Meena Kumari.
However, her father did not want the women in his family to become actresses. This caused problems between her parents, and they lived apart for many years. Kapoor was raised by her mother, who worked hard to support her and her sister. Even though her father wasn't always around, she said he was still an important part of her life.
She went to Jamnabai Narsee School in Mumbai and later Welham Girls' School, a boarding school in Dehradun. After school, she studied business at Mithibai College in Mumbai for two years. She also took a summer course in computers at Harvard Summer School. She later studied law for a year but decided to follow her dream of becoming an actress. Acting Career
Early Success and Breakthrough (2000–2003)
Kapoor's first film was Refugee in 2000, where she starred with Abhishek Bachchan. The film was a success, and her performance earned her the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut. People noticed her talent and natural acting style.
In 2001, she starred in the hit movie Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai. Later that year, she played Kaurwaki in the historical film Aśoka opposite Shah Rukh Khan. The film was shown at international film festivals and received good reviews.
Her biggest breakthrough came with the 2001 film Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.... She played the fun and stylish character Pooja, also known as "Poo." Established Stardom (2007–2011)

In 2007, Kapoor starred in the romantic comedy Jab We Met. She played Geet Dhillon, a lively and optimistic girl. The film was a big hit, and her performance was loved by audiences and critics. She won the Filmfare Award for Best Actress for this role.
In 2009, she appeared in the thriller Kurbaan, where she played a woman who discovers her husband is involved in dangerous activities. Her serious performance earned her another Filmfare nomination. That same year, she starred in 3 Idiots with Aamir Khan. The film became the highest-grossing Bollywood film at the time.
In 2010, she won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in We Are Family. She also starred in the hit comedy Golmaal 3. The following year, she starred in two more blockbusters, Bodyguard with Salman Khan and the science-fiction film Ra.One with Shah Rukh Khan. Marriage and Continued Success (2012–2017)
In 2012, Kapoor starred in the romantic comedy Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu. She then played a fading movie star in the drama Heroine. Her performance was praised by critics, who said she played the difficult role with sincerity.
On October 16, 2012, she married actor Saif Ali Khan. After her marriage, she began using the name Kareena Kapoor Khan. Her last film of 2012 was Talaash: The Answer Lies Within, a mystery thriller that was a box office hit.
Over the next few years, she chose to work on fewer films to focus on her family. She appeared in the action film Singham Returns (2014) and the drama Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015). After the birth of her first son, Kapoor Khan returned to acting in the 2018 film Veere Di Wedding. It was a comedy about four female friends and became one of the highest-grossing Hindi films with female leads. In 2019, she starred in the comedy Good Newwz, which was also a major box office success.
In 2022, she starred opposite Aamir Khan in Laal Singh Chaddha, an adaptation of the American film Forrest Gump. Her performance as Rupa, a troubled aspiring actress, was called one of the best of her career.

In 2023, she starred in the Netflix thriller Jaane Jaan, playing a single mother involved in a crime. The film was the most-watched Indian film on Netflix that year. She also produced and starred in The Buckingham Murders, where she played a detective.
In 2024, she starred in the heist comedy Crew with Tabu and Kriti Sanon. The film was a commercial success. She also appeared in the action film Singham Again.
Other Work
Fashion and Writing
Kapoor has a strong interest in fashion. She was the first Indian actress to launch her own clothing line with the brand Globus. In 2018, she also launched her own line of makeup with Lakmé Cosmetics.
She has also co-written several books. In 2009, she worked on a book about healthy eating called Don't Lose Your Mind, Lose Your Weight. She later released her autobiography, The Style Diary of a Bollywood Diva, in 2013. In 2021, she wrote a book about her experiences with pregnancy, which became a bestseller.
Charity Work
Kapoor is involved in many charitable causes, especially those related to children's education and women's safety. Since 2014, she has worked with UNICEF to promote education for girls in India.
